Indian Students to Learn US Style Accounting Jobs

In a move to contemporise commerce teaching and enhance employability of undergraduates, Delhi University will soon start teaching US accounting principles as well as International Accounting Standards to students.

With more local companies listing overseas, India Inc is taking to the US accounting system in a major way and this move will help students find places in these firms as well as foreign firms which outsource accounting jobs to Indians.


That's not all. The biggest shake-up in Indian corporate history, the split between the Ambani bothers, is also expected to make it to DU classrooms. As part of the case study on markets, DU plans to incorporate the division of Reliance Industries and its effect on investors and stock markets in the B Com (H) curriculum.

It will talk about how Mukesh and Anil squabbled for control over a group with $23 billion in sales — equivalent to 3.5% of India’s economy — and the final outcome of the spat.
