Training Workshop Launched for Job Recruitment

The task of spotting and selecting the best candidate for the job is a challenge for even the most experienced HR specialist. Yet, for businesses without a specialist in the key HR role, it can take on daunting proportions.

Help is at hand from the specialist agencies, Crone Corkill and FSS, which have developed a competency-based interviewing workshop designed specifically to aid the most hard-pressed recruiter.

In essence, the technique identifies just six key competencies – Decision Making & Problem Solving; Resilience and Tenacity; Confidence; Planning & Organising; Team Working; and Organisational Awareness – and helps the interviewer develop questions and analyse answers in each category.

"Our aim is to develop a system that enables the recruiter to match closely the skills and capabilities of the candidate with the unique requirements of the business," says Richard Putley, director of FSS.

"By ensuring that our candidates also have a good understanding of the technique, we also remove some of the mystique and fear from the interview process to the benefit of all parties."
